American Girl Place, Chicago, IL

Wonderful experience! I grew
up with American Girl dolls, and after reading
a great review of American Girl Place on this
site, I made reservations for my mother and
myself at their Chicago location. When I made
the reservations, I did not even have to ask
about having a special gluten free meal; the
person taking the reservation asked me if
anyone had any dietary restrictions.

Any of the gluten-free girls in your life will feel well taken care of at this very special place

We went for the Sunday lunch.
The meal began with cinnamon rolls for mom,
but the waiter automatically knew to bring me
strawberries instead. Then, we had fruit
kabobs of pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew,
strawberries, and grapes. Next, we had
entrees. There were so many gluten-free
options...even gluten-free pizza and
sandwiches! I decided on the chopped chicken
salad, which was very tasty and huge! Last was
dessert. Mom had chocolate mousse and cookies.
I was brought strawberry sorbet and a brownie
topped with powdered sugar...I had to get it
to go. So many yummy gluten-free foods! All of
this and your drink of choice was included for
a flat $20. Not bad for a great meal in Chicago.

And, of course, the place is
adorable. There are three floors of American
Girl dolls, clothes, accessories, plus a
beauty parlor, theater, restaurant, and more.
There were several birthday celebrations going
on while we were dining as well. You can
schedule this when you make reservations.
Girls young and old will enjoy this
experience. And this is one company that is
clearly making an effort to accommodate us and
others with special diets. This is one place
where all girls, gluten free or not, can have
a great time and great food. But don't be
afraid if you are an adult. My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
